What, when and how?


Do you know, what is a 'deep'? It means a 'diya' or an earthen lamp.
'Deepavali' is the plural form of 'deep' or it refers to a collection of 'deeps'/'diyas'/earthen lamps.
On 'Amavasya' or no moon light, people of 'Ayodhya Nagari' celebrated the victory of Lord Ram over the demon king Ravana and welcomed Ram to their own city after 14 years' exile in the forest. People were so exited, that they lit lamps/diyas/deepavali (a collection of earthen lamps) and decorated them everywhere to remove darkness and spread light. There were no electricity at that time. So from this day onwards, 'Diwali' or 'Deepavali' is celebrated every year.
India is known for its tremendous festivals and their celebrations with great fervor. Time has now come for yet another festival, that is 'DIWALI' or 'DEEPAVALI'. 

Unique celebration of 'Diwali':

As Dussehra, this festival, though celebrated all over India, also differs from state to state, or from place to place, according to their beliefs.
Some celebrate it as the marriage of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth with Lord Vishnu. Others celebrate it as the birthday of Lakshmi. But, most of the people believe Diwali as the festival of lights to commemorate the victory of Lord Ram over Ravana, and his return to Ayodhya along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman. 
Somewhere, it's a five-day celebration.

ପୌରାଣିକ ମତବାଦ :


ସତ୍ୟ ଯୁଗରେ, ପ୍ରଭୁ ଶ୍ରୀରାମ ଚନ୍ଦ୍ରନକୁ ୧୪ ବର୍ଷ ବନବାସ କରିବାକୁ ପଡିଥିଲା, ଯେଉଁ ସମୟରେ ଲଙ୍କାଧିପତି ଛଳବଶତଃ ସିତାଙ୍କୁ ଚୋରିକରି ନେଇ ନିଜ ପାଖରେ ରଖିବାକୁ ଚେଷ୍ଟା କରିଥିଲେ | କିନ୍ତୁ, ଏହା ଜାଣିରଖିବା ଉଚିତ, ଯେ ଦିନେ ନ ଦିନେ ଅସତ୍ୟ ଉପରେ ସତ୍ୟର ଜୟ ସ୍ଵାଭାବିକ | ଶେଷରେ ଯୁଦ୍ଧରେ ଶ୍ରୀରାମ ବିଜଯ ଲାଭ କରି ସିତା ଓ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମଣଙ୍କୁ ଘେନି ଅଯୋଧ୍ୟକୁ ଏହି ତିଥିରେ ପ୍ରତ୍ୟାଗମନ  କରିଥିଲେ | ଏହି ଖୁସିରେ ସମସ୍ତ ଅଯୋଧ୍ୟା ବାସୀ ଅତି ହର୍ଷ ଓ ଉଲ୍ଲାସର ସହିତ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରକାରର ଆଲୋକ ଜଳାଇ ସେମାନଙ୍କୁ ସ୍ଵାଗତ ଜଣାଇଥିଲେ | ଏଣୁକରି, ପ୍ରତିବର୍ଷ ଏହି ତିଥିଟିକୁ ଦୀପାବଳି ଅମାବାସ୍ୟା ରୂପରେ ଲୋକେ ପାଳନ କରି ଆସୁଛନ୍ତି | 
ଭାରତର ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରେ ଦୀପାବଳିରେ ଦେବୀମାତାଙ୍କ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ରୂପରେ ପୂଜା କରାଯାଏ | ବିଶେଷ କରି ଆସାମ,ବିହାର ଓ ଓଡିଶାରେ ମା' କାଳୀଙ୍କ ପୂଜା କରାଯାଏ |  କାର୍ତ୍ତିକ  ମାସ କୃଷ୍ଣ ପକ୍ଷ ତ୍ରୟୋଦଶୀ ମଧ୍ୟ ରାତ୍ରିର ତାନ୍ତ୍ରିକ ଓ ଶାକ୍ତ ମତରେ ଦେବୀଙ୍କର ପୂଜା ହୁଏ ମାଟିରେ ତିଆରି ମୂର୍ତ୍ତି ସହ ବିଭିନ୍ନ ଶକ୍ତି ପୀଠରେ ଏହା ପାଳିତ ହୁଏ |

ବୈଜ୍ଞାନିକ ଭିତ୍ତିକୋଣ :

ନାନା ପୌରଣିକ ମତବାଦ ଓ ଧାର୍ମିକ ବିଶ୍ୱାସାରା ଭିତ୍ତିଭୂମିରେ ରହିଥିବା ଏହି ପର୍ବଟିକୁ ବୈଜ୍ଞାନିକ ଅନୁଶୀଳନ କଲେ ଜଣାପଡେ ଯେ, ଏହା ଏକ କୃଷିଭିତ୍ତିକ ବିଧି ଯାହା କି ପ୍ରାଚୀନ କଳିଙ୍ଗର କୃଷିକ୍ଷେତ୍ର ଓ ତା' ସାଙ୍ଗକୁ ପୁର ପଲ୍ଲୀରେ ପୋକ ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରଣ ପାଇଁ ଆୟୋଜନ କରାଯାଉଥିଲା | ଧାନର ଏନ୍ତୁଡିଶାଳ ଓଡିଶା ଚାଷବାସରେ ସମୃଦ୍ଧ ଥିଲା | ଏହାର ପାରମ୍ପରିକ ଚାଷ ପ୍ରଣାଳୀ ମଧ୍ୟ ବିଜ୍ଞାନ ସମ୍ମତ | ପୂର୍ବ କାଳର ପୋକଜୋକ ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରଣ ପ୍ରଣାଳୀ ଅତି ଉତ୍ତମ ଧରଣର ଥିଲା ବୋଲି ଆମେରିକାର ଗବେଷକମାନେ ମତ ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି || ଏଥିପାଇଁ ଓଡିଆ ଲୋକେ ନିମ୍ବ ପତ୍ର ଓ ଆଲୋକ ଦିହୁରୀର ବହୁଳ ପ୍ରୟୋଗ କରିଥିବାର ଜଣାପଡିଛି | ଏ ଦୁଇଟି ଉପାୟ/ମାଧ୍ୟମ ଏବେ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ବୈଜ୍ଞାନିକମାନଙ୍କ ଦ୍ଵାରା ସର୍ବୋତ୍କୃଷ୍ଟ ବିବେଚିତ ହୋଇଅଛି |
ସାଧାରଣତଃ ଫସଲର ଅମଳ ଋତୁ ଆସିବାସମୟରେ, ଶସ୍ୟ କ୍ଷେତ୍ର   ସାଙ୍ଗକୁ ଜନବସତିରେ  କୀଟ ପତଙ୍ଗଙ୍କ ସଂଖ୍ୟା ବୃଦ୍ଧି ପାଇବାରେ ଲାଗିଥାଏ | କାର୍ତ୍ତିକ ମାସର ଅମବାସ୍ୟା ଆଡକୁ ଏମାନଅଙ୍କ ସଂଖ୍ୟା ଏତେ ବୃଦ୍ଧି ହେଇଥାଏ ଯେ ବିଶେଷ କରି ରାତିବେଳେ, ଜୀବନ ଅସ୍ତ ବ୍ୟସ୍ତ ହୋଇପଡେ | ଅମବାସ୍ୟାର କିଦିନ ପୂର୍ବ ଓ ପରକୁ ମିଶାଇ ପ୍ରାୟ ପାଞ୍ଚ ଦିନ ମଶାଲ, ଦିହୁରୀ, ଲଣ୍ଠନ, ଦୀପ ଆଦି ଜଳାଇ ପୋକ ଯୋକଙ୍କୁ ଆକୃଷ୍ଟ କରି ଦମନ କରାଯାଏ |
