Friendship Day










Though it's celebrated at the international level on July 30 as World Friendship Day, we in India celebrate the first Sunday of August as National Friendship Day. Thus this year it's today, August 2.
 A very happy FRIENDSHIP DAY to all my dear friends!

          ନୂଆ ଖାଇ ଜୁହାର                                                                                                              ଏହି ପର୍ଵଟି ମୁଖ୍ୟତ ପଶ୍ଚିମ ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ଖୁବ ହର୍ଷ ଓ ଉଲ୍ଲାସର ସହିତ ପ୍ରଚଳିତ ହେବା ଦେଖାଯାଏ। ସେ ଠାରେ ଥିବା ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ଠାକୁରାଣୀ, ମା ସମଲାଇ ହେଉଛନ୍ତି ଆରାଧ୍ୟ ଦେବତା ବା ଦେଵୀ। ଯେହେତୁ ଓଡ଼ିଶା ଏକ କୃଷି ପ୍ରଧାନ ରାଜ୍ୟ ଓଡ଼ିଆ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ସଶ୍ୟ ଅନ୍ନ ବା ଚାଉଳ ଅଟେ,ତେଣୁ ଯେତେବେଳେ ଫସଲକୁ ଅମଳ କରିବା ସମୟ ଆସେ,  ପ୍ରଥମ ଅମଳ ମା' ସମଲେଶ୍ବରୀଙ୍କଠାରେ ଅର୍ପଣ କରାଯାଇଥାଏ। ଵହୁ ପୁରାତନ କାଳରୁ ଏହାର ପ୍ରଚଳନ, ଓଡିଆ ତିଥି ଅନୁଯାୟୀ, ଭାଦ୍ରବ ମାସ କୃଷ୍ଣ ପକ୍ଷ ପଞ୍ଚମୀ ଦିନ (ଗଣେଷ ଚତୁର୍ଥୀ ପର ଦିନ) ହୋଇ ଆସୁଅଛି । ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଏହା କେବଳ ପଶ୍ଚିମ ଓଡ଼ିଶାରେ ସୀମିତ ନ ରହି ଅନେକ ଆଡକୁ ବ୍ୟାପିଲାଣି। ଆମ ଭାରତ ବର୍ଷର ପ୍ରଧାନମନ୍ତ୍ରୀ ଶ୍ରୀ ନରେନ୍ଦ୍ର ମୋଦୀ ଟ୍ୱଈଟ କରି ଶୁଭେଚ୍ଛା ଜଣାଇଛନ୍ତି। According to his tweet, "Nuakhai is one of the most ancient festivals of Odisha.        SHREEKRISHNA JANMASHTAMI Hindus celebrate the birthday of Shree Krishna as Janmashtami. All Krishna temples are being decorated. People also decorate the temples at their homes.  Some people fast till midnight.  They eat Prasad after 12 at the midnight, when Shree Krishna was born.

                   KARTIK PURNIMA According to Hindu calendar, it falls around one month after Sharad Purnima or (Kumar Purnima as itwell known in Odisha) and almost fifteen days after Deepavali. It is the fifteenth day of the bright fortnight of the Kartik month. Kartik Purnima is a festival celebrated in different ways/styles/beliefs by the Hindus, Sikhs and Jains. There are different names for this also, such as Tripuri Purnima, Tripurari Purnima, Deva-Diwali or Deva-Deepavali, Guruparab or Guru Nanak Jayanti, as different communities celebrate this occasion according to their own beliefs, customs and traditions. But they all consider this day,  the fifteenth lunar day of Kartik,very auspicious. In some parts of the country, the whole month of Kartik is considered to be the holiest month among all according to the Hindu calendar.  Jainism : According to Jains, Kartik Purnima is a very important religious day.
