71st Republic Day  As we know, India became free from British rule on 15th August, 1947. But its constitution came into effect from 26th January 1950.  It clearly declared India as a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic (as strictly against monarchy or dictatorship of any single person/ king/ dictator).
